Idealist.org - Do you know it? You should.

July 27, 2009 by Dawn Hancock

One of the best sites you can use for connecting with other do-gooders is Idealist.org. I've been a member since it started years ago. We get a few jobs every years, a ton of resumes and often even hire them (ala Jeanie!).

I always suggest this site to folks looking for places for jobs and even spots to volunteer. I know we've gotten a number of people to volunteer for our own nonprofit through the site.

I'm most excited about the amazing book they've recently published, Idealist.org Handbook to Building a Better WorldIdealist.org Handbook to Building a Better World. I love it so much that I got one for every camper this year. It's the kind of book that is good for anyone, regardless of what stage of life and/or do-gooding you are at. It's a resource guide of tools and inspiration for people who want to make a difference but don't know where to begin. And at $10 you can't beat the price.

Inspiration, Esq.

July 15, 2009 by Darren McPherson

Recently I was working on a project that had me thinking about subtle typographic dimension.  Immediately I thought of one of my favorite magazines (that I don't read), Esquire. I've been checking out the covers of these pretty constantly over the last year and a half and almost always find something different, engaging and sophisticated that inspires me.  They don't go for extremes too often, but the way they seem to frame the figure and create somewhat of a space for them works well.

Anyhow, I stumbled upon the archive of their covers and thought it might inspire others a bit too.  Enjoy!
