I've spent a lot of the past two weeks in a hurried rush to compile everything for last minute graduate school applications and studying for the GRE. Sitting with my computer at my kitchen table has gotten a little old, and since I am no longer a Lincoln Square resident with The Grind a block away, I've had to seek out a good study site here in Lincoln Park.
The past two nights were spent at the Bourgeois Pig. And. I. Love. It.
Check them out if you're in the neighborhood: they have an incredible tea selection from all over world and their sandwich menu takes more than a minute to peruse. What I like best: a different homemade soup served daily by an eclectic waitstaff listening to good music.
They deliver, but the atmosphere's worth stopping in. It's often crammed with students, readers, daters and doctors from Children's Memorial Hospital, which is across the street. The downstairs is lit by windows overlooking a sweet summer patio and the upstairs is outfitted with couches and desks of all shapes. It's been a much needed change of scenery from my apartment!
Note: you do have to pay to use their wifi.

Today in our capital, thousands of global warming/climate change activists are gathering and marching. It will be the largest organization of civil disobedience focusing on climate change in history.
Greenpeace has made it easy to get involved and is asking non-marchers to call their Congress-people and ask them to quickly pass legislation to cap global warming emissions.
350.org says of the event: "Now is a critical time to show that people everywhere are uniting behind...a future safe from the ravages of climate change. Stand in solidarity with them by signing the following statement: I stand in solidarity with the coalition of citizens working for a clean energy future for the entire planet."
Make some calls, sign the solidarity statement: be part of this exciting moment!
