Purpose
Good Design For Good Reason.™
Good Design For Good Reason considers ethnography (cultural relevance), experience (archetypal truths) and ecology (environmental awareness). Firebelly knows that as designers everything we make and say has an impact beyond its intended use and effects more than its projected user. Firebelly takes this responsibility and potential seriously.
Considering cultural relevance means designing with compassion, empathy and understanding. It requires holistic observational and immersive research. People and culture are just too complex to be studied in focus groups and formal research settings. Good Design For Good Reason evokes personal meaning through relevant connections.
Designing for the human experience means connecting with the foundation of archetypal truths and universal mythos we all live by. It’s the reason Grimms’ fairy tales and Aesop’s fables still make sense to us—regardless of age, race, gender or orientation. Good Design For Good Reason creates emotional impact.
Being environmentally aware means making the planet a priority. Anyone can claim to be a green studio but our commitment to the planet goes way deeper than “soy inks” and “post-consumer recycled content.” Firebelly designs beyond the borders of the printed page and past the edges of its objects. We plan for what will happen to the design after it’s displayed, read, purchased and shared. Good Design For Good Reason saves the planet.
While not everyone sees the value of putting humanity first or believes us when we say socially responsible design is changing the world, we’re eager to prove it. Authenticity + Sustainability is about more than keeping it real—it’s about keeping it right.
